How do you make a chip out of quinoa?

We grind raw quinoa into quinoa flour and then form it into the wavy shape you can see in every one of our Quinoa Chips. We then cook the chip, season it with natural spices and put it into bags for everyone to enjoy!

How do you make a chip out of hummus?

Our Hummus Chips aren’t technically made out of hummus, they are made out of chickpeas, the main ingredient in hummus. We take chickpea flour, apply a lot of pressure and heat to turn it into that dippable shape you are eating, then bake it to seal the nutrients into a raw-pasta-like shell. Then we quickly fry the shell to get the satisfying crunchy texture and add a special blend of seasonings to give that great taste of hummus. Our Lentil Chips go through the same process, but we (obviously) use lentils instead of chickpeas and add different seasonings.

Why has the protein content in your Quinoa Chips changed?

As the demand for our Quinoa Chips has grown, we’ve had to purchase different types of quinoa from additional farmers to meet this demand, and the new quinoa has less protein. This change is not due to a change in the recipe (all the ingredients are the same) or a change in the amount of quinoa we are using (the quantity of quinoa in each chip is the same). We are working with our farmers to identify and grow the highest-protein types of quinoa, and working with our R&D team to improve our recipe. How involved are you in making the chips?

We are involved in every aspect of the process from farm to shelf. We work closely with our suppliers to get all-natural ingredients that are non-GMO and live up to our standards of quality and taste. We spent months developing each unique flavour, tasting different versions and making adjustments. The bag design was very much a labor-of-love in putting our ideas onto the package (we had a good bit of help from our design company too).

What does Simply7 stand for?

Simply7 refers to the 7 core standards that all of our products follow. These core standards are things we truly believe should be basic expectations for any snack food. They are: 0 Grams Trans Fat and No Cholesterol; No Artificial Colours or Flavours; No Additives or Preservatives; Gluten Free Ingredients; All Natural Recipes; Simple Ingredients; and Simply Delicious. Many people think that the Simply7 means that our chips have 7 ingredients, but that is not the case. In fact, our Sea Salt Lentil Chips only have four ingredients (lentil flour, potato starch, oil, sea salt). Of course, some of our chips have more than 7 ingredients, but we are constantly looking for ways to simplify our recipes even more.

What do you mean by all-natural?

We believe that the closer it is to its original form, the purer it is and the better it is for you. That means no artificial colours, no artificial flavours, no preservatives, no MSG, no additives, no chemicals. And yes to real chickpeas, real lentils, real sea salt, real tomatoes and red peppers and garlic and all the other delicious stuff. Because nature is beautiful and it tastes great! Why mess with perfection?

Do Simply7 chips have any trans fat or saturated fat?

There are 0 grams of trans fat in our chips (another one of our 7 core standards). There are also 0 grams of saturated fat in our Lentil Chips and only 0.5 grams of saturated fat in our Hummus Chips and Quinoa Chips.

What kind of oil do you use?

We use only all-natural expeller-pressed safflower oil. Expeller-pressing oil is the preferred method because the seeds (in our case, safflower) are crushed using a ton of pressure (literally, up to 15 tons per square inch). The other method uses chemical solvents to extract the oil from its source, then it is super-heated (which removes the toxins but also most of the nutrients) and “improved” with preservatives. That pretty much goes against all of our 7 core standards, so we stay far away from the chemical stuff and only use expeller-pressed oil.

Do your chips go well with dip?

Our chips are made to be dipped. We worked hard to make sure that each flavour tastes great on its own, but eating them with dip truly makes these snacks taste exceptional. Each flavour of chip has a specific dip recipe on the back of the package that would pair great with that chip. You can see other recipes on our website and mix-and-match to find out what combination you really like.

How long do your chips stay fresh?

Simply 7 Snacks are made without artificial preservatives, and they still stay fresh for 6 months (or more). If you can’t finish the bag before it goes bad, we are doing something wrong.

Are your chips Kosher?

Yes, all of our chips are Kosher certified by the CRC – Chicago.

Are Simply7 Chips Gluten Free?

All of our Quinoa, Hummus and Lentil chips are Gluten-Free Certified.

Are there allergens in Simply7?

Our chips do not contain any wheat, soy, peanuts, treenuts, eggs, shellfish, or sesame seeds.

Some of our products do contain milk ingredients because we use whey powder (from cheese production) to give them that creamy taste you love:
